EnLink employs a dedicated Operational Excellence team focused on enhancing business and operational processes, reducing safety and environmental risks, and encouraging continuous improvement.
The Operational Excellence team is composed of engineers and operations leaders who work with departments across the company to identify potential improvement areas. The team then creates workstreams and conducts in-depth reviews of data, processes, and incident investigations to determine an optimal plan of action.
In 2023, we launched 20 operational excellence workstreams, including:
- Optimization Initiatives: We utilize cross-functional teams to identify optimization projects, such as our plant relocations. We have successfully moved underutilized natural gas processing equipment to high-demand areas. The Tiger II project, which was announced in February 2023 and became operational in the second quarter of 2024, is our third natural gas plant relocation and will help meet our producers’ plans in the Permian by adding needed capacity. By repurposing existing equipment, we are taking an efficient, cost-effective approach that decreases the need for new equipment.
- Reliability Initiatives: We leverage real-time data analytics to improve plant and equipment reliability. Facility scorecards are used to track reliability and other operations metrics against industry standards and historic facility performance. If gaps are found, the team develops improvement plans, frequently implementing new tools such as remote operations and predictive maintenance technologies. One result of this effort includes the reduction of excess emissions associated with equipment or plant downtime.
- Root Cause Analysis: We utilize this problem-solving approach to evaluate incidents, identify underlying factors, and determine effective solutions. In 2023, the Operational Excellence team trained our Environmental, Health, and Safety team on the root cause analysis process to empower them to methodically assess incidents, pinpoint their underlying causes and contributing factors, and develop effective actions to minimize the probability of reoccurrence.
- Operations Best Practices: We utilize lessons learned from plant operators and personnel across our assets to create an “Operations Center of Excellence.” This resource helps train new operators on safe, responsible, and efficient operations and helps apply best practices from region to region, thus improving our reliability and overall sustainability performance.
